Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Signify decommissioning?

Signify is no longer resourced to support ongoing maintenance, security fixes and future development beyond 2025.

Sign with Singpass' newly-released APIs (V3) have significantly reduced the technical complexity required to digitally sign a PDF. Agencies may easily integrate directly with them to provide similar functionalities.

Can I still use Signify if it is sunsetting?

If you are an existing user, you can still use the platform. Take note of the timelines indicated on when certain functionalities will be disabled.

What is Sign with Singpass?

Sign is a digital signing solution built on the Singpass ecosystem that allows users to sign documents such as contracts and other agreements remotely, via their Singpass App. Signify is a relying party that has integrated with Sign with Singpass to provide the functionalities you see today.

Will signed documents still be valid after the decommission date?

Yes. All documents completed with Sign with Singpass signatures can still be verified even after Signify is taken down.

Are there alternatives?

These are the legally accepted electronic signature methods. For more details, refer to this government circular (intranet).

Type of signatures required
Alternatives

Ordinary Electronic Signatures (OES)

  • In-System Approval Method:

    • Clicking on an “I accept,” “I declare,” or “I agree” (or equivalent) checkbox with one of the following:

      1. In a FormSG with

        1. Singpass and MyInfo

        2. Field to draw signature (currently in development)

        3. Verification via email OTP

        4. Field to type out form-filler’s name

      2. On a website; or

      3. Signing with a stylus or finger on a touchscreen

  • Email Method:

    • Typing your name at the end of an email

  • Image signature method:

    • Embedding a signature image in the document using any software

  • PDF signature method:

    • Drawing a signature onto the document using Adobe Acrobat’s “Fill and Sign” function or similar tools

Secure Electronic Signatures (SES)

  • Generate documents and request signing with docCentral.

*The FormSG team is also piloting several OES alternatives (e.g. drawn signature, Singpass field for MRF) starting from June 2025. (participate in beta)

Can I use OES?

OES is also a legally valid option. However, agencies/systems must provide evidence to prove the authenticity of an OES if challenged.

Systems and admins need to put in place risk mitigation features, i.e. steps to help ensure the authenticity of the signature and keep records of the process.
